Last Updated: December 30, 2024

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for using CDOT Demo Software to effectively mark and decode codes.

Optional Setup: Create Folder Structure
For convenience, we recommend setting up a folder structure:
-
On your Desktop, create a folder named 'CDOTDemo'.
-
Inside 'CDOTDemo', create two subfolders: 'CDOTFiles' and 'CDOTDecoder'.
This organization is optional, and you may choose other folder locations based on your preference.

Option A: For a CDOT size of 12mm x 12mm or larger.
-
Option B: For a CDOT size smaller than 12mm x 12mm.
-
-
Click on 'Save CDOT Files' and choose the directory where you’d like to save the files (use Desktop/CdDOTDemo/CDOTFiles if you created the recommended folder).

Decoding Part: Setup and Capture Images
To decode the CDOT, you can use either an industrial camera or a handheld scanner.

1. Camera Setup:
- Open the camera software and configure it to save captured images to a folder on your PC.
- Depending on the camera brand and model, you may need to set this up to save directly or use FTP. For configuration help, contact the camera supplier.
- Set the image-saving directory as desired (use Desktop/CDOTDemo/CDOTDecoder if you created the recommended folder).

2. Configure Cosmodot Demo App:

- In the 'Settings' tab of the app, click on the text area to choose the folder
where images are saved by the camera
(select Desktop/CDOTDemo/CDOTDecoder if you created the recommended folder).

3. Viewing Decoding Results:

- Go to the 'Main' tab in the app to view the decoding results. The app displays results for the most recent image.
- You can either capture images with the camera or manually place images in the selected folder to see CDOT decoding in action

If issues persist, please contact support.

Marking Issues

- Solution: his may be due to an incompatibility between your laser software’s file format version and the CDOT files. Please contact support for assistance.

Decoding Issues
1. Problem: Unable to select the camera's image-saving directory.
- Solution: Select the fixed directory where the camera saves images from the Cosmodot Demo app. The app will still function properly with this setup.

2. Problem: Images appear in the folder, but no results show in the app’s 'Main' tab.
- Solution: Verify that the folder with images matches the one defined in the app’s 'Settings' tab.
If the issue persists, try running the app as an administrator.

3. Problem: No option to run the app as an administrator.
- Solution: Navigate to the app’s installation folder (usually C:/Program Files/Cosmodot Inc/Cosmodot Application),
right-click on the app, and select the 'Run as administrator' option.
